Want to enjoy the Flint RiverQuarium even more? Sign up as a RiverQuarium volunteer. It’s a fun and exciting way to meet new friends, enjoy a behind-the-scenes RiverQuarium experience, and learn more about the animals and exhibits. Plus, when you volunteer, you’re helping to ensure that others can enjoy the Flint RiverQuarium!
The minimum age for volunteers is fifteen. Volunteers are asked to commit to a regular schedule and are needed during Flint RiverQuarium operational hours.

FRQ
Ambassadors
The Flint RiverQuarium Ambassadors will serve as outreach volunteers,
representing the FRQ at events in the area, such as festivals, open
houses, orientations and other special events. Ambassadors will be
supplied with an easy-to-set-up booth display and materials for
distribution. If they have been trained in animal handling, they may be
permitted to take along an animal for demonstration and educational
purposes. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage if attending an
event outside of Dougherty or Lee County. Hours are on an as-needed
basis and specific to events.
Aviary Attendant
Assist staff with attending to the safety and security of the birds in the Cypress Creek Aviary. Aviary attendants will be trained on the birds and also will interact with visitors and share their knowledge.
RiverQuest Summer Camp Volunteer
Assist in the daily activities during annual summer camp.
Docent / Exhibit Explainer
Docent / Exhibit Explainers learn about the exhibits and animals at the Flint RiverQuarium and share their knowledge with guests.
Gift Shop/Theater Assistants
Help gift shop staff, assist with stock and sales and assist in the Imagination Theater with concession sales and guest seating.
Greeter
Greeters make guests feel welcome and excited by assisting them upon entering the RiverQuarium and within the exhibit galleries.
Animal Husbandry
Husbandry assistants are trained to provide daily care to our animals and assist in maintaining exhibits.
Extreme Team Diver
Be a part of the RiverQuarium Extreme Team. Feed the fish, keep the Blue Hole sparkling clean, and entertain and educate visitors during live dive presentations. Divers must be experienced and certified.
Discovery Days Volunteer
Assist with implementation of Discovery Days on the first and third Sunday of the month from 1:30 to 4:00 pm by helping children with crafts, activities or games; or come in and be a STORYTELLER for an afternoon!
