RiverQuest Summer Camps
School’s OUT! Flint RiverQuarium Camps are IN!
Summer is a time to make new friends, try new things and explore the world around you. We are again pulling out all the stops and offering the total camp experience by partnering with Thronateeska Heritage Center for two of our sessions. The summer sizzles with week long fun and “ed-venture” programs for children ages 5-11. Your child’s week will be filled with hands on activities, behind-the-scenes and exhibit exploration tours, Imagination Theater movies, crafts, games, up-close animal encounters, a t-shirt, guest speakers, snacks and Friday’s Splish, Splash Water Bash. At our nature science-based camps, we believe “Hands-On -- Minds-On.”
Dinosaur Camp: June 7-11; Ages: 5-8; Time: 8:30 – 3:00; Cost: $90 members, $100 nonmembers
Did you know that the word “Dinosaur” literally means “terrible lizard?” Along with Thronateeska Heritage Center, we will introduce the campers to the wondrous world of dinosaurs! Step into our Earth’s dynamic past with fossils, dinosaur eggs and volcanoes. Discover the actual size of these enormous creatures and come face to face with their closest living relatives. View descendants of the flying dinosaurs in the Flint RiverQuarium Aviary. We look forward to a “Dino-mite” camp with our future paleontologists.
Wild Ocean: June 14-18; Ages 7-11; Time 8:30 – 3:00; Cost $90 members, $100 nonmembers
Join us as we embark on a high-seas adventure! Become an ocean sleuth and uncover the mysteries of the deep. Learn about unique ocean habitats while meeting some strange and mysterious creatures. Experience the wonders of one of nature’s greatest marine migrations in our Imagination Theater with a viewing of “Wild Ocean,” filmed off the coast of South Africa. Discover how our own Flint River is important to our oceans. Dive into a week of fun and discovery as we take the plunge into our wild oceans!
River Rats: June 21-25; Ages 7-11; Time 8:30 – 3:00; Cost $90 members, $100 nonmembers
Here come the River Rats again! Sign up for a week of fun with the Flint RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Heritage Center. Campers will soak up first-hand knowledge and appreciation for our Flint River, Georgia’s longest river. Explore the natural habitat of our Flint using aqua scopes to discover what lies beneath! Observe and experience the Flint by testing the waters for pollution while using microscopes and water filters to take a closer look at what’s lurking in the water. Come join the River Rats and learn about the river that is right in our own backyard.
