Critter Hunt Best for grades K-2

• Students will receive a picture of an animal whose home is located in the Flint RiverQuarium.  The picture should be hole punched, so a shoestring can be threaded through it and used as a necklace.  Each student must search for his/her own critter throughout the exhibit halls.  Please stay with your group.  When the matching live critter is found, the student must get verification from a teacher.  Once the teacher verifies the match, the student is told the critter fact found on the “Critter Hunt Facts Teacher Key.”  The students must remember their critter facts.

Note:  If students have trouble searching for their critter, see the teacher key for critter location.  Keep in mind it is possible that some animals will not be found because of our constantly changing natural environment.

• Assessment:  At the end of the tour or on arrival at school, each student can share the picture of his/her critter, name of the critter, and a fact.  Students will be expected to provide the correct information.

Critter cards can be downloaded or pre-arranged to be provided by the Education Department at the Flint RiverQuarium 3 weeks before your arrival.  You must provide your own shoestrings.
